Is there a free Gmail backup tool available?

[Robertparkar]

Yes, users looking for a free Gmail backup tool can try the demo version of MailsDaddy Gmail Backup Tool to evaluate its backup features. The software helps users backup Gmail, export emails to different formats, and export Gmail email to local PC/drive. Before starting the process, make sure you understand the difference between Gmail backup codes and actual email backup—backup codes are account-security codes, not mailbox data.

Yes, free Gmail backup options are available, but check whether the free version backs up the entire mailbox or only a limited number of emails. Also, confirm which output formats you need, such as PST, MBOX or EML and whether attachments and folder structure are preserved.

A suitable option to test is GainTools Gmail Backup. Its free trial lets you back up the first 10 emails from each Gmail folder and it supports formats such as PST, MBOX, EML, MSG and EMLX. The trial is for evaluation rather than a complete free backup.

If you need a full mailbox backup at no cost, Gmail’s own data export option is another route to investigate; however, it does not directly provide a PST file.
