H1 tag,Alt tag,author tag(not much important) etc are some meta tags which are helpful to improve ranking.

Meta Details generally act as a communicator between website owner and search engine crawler. Types of Meta Tags are
1. Title Tag - Website Title is given.
2. A description - Website Description is given.
3. Keywords - Targeted keywords of website are given.
