Having studied a lot of hosting providers' TOS I can say that most hosts promise one figure for uptime. Webhostgiant.com seems to be one of the few who states two different figures , one for the server uptime, another for network uptime
http://www.webhostgiant.com/terms_of_use/index.html#n12

If I go for their services, how do I know whether my downtime is due to the server or network issues looking at the general stats figures of the monitoring services like Siteuptime?

I think that such trick will be good only during first month. Anyway if you like them - give them a try

The bigger figure is offered for the network uptime and it's natural as there are fewer chances that something may happen there if the network provider is stable. While the figure for the server uptime is smaller, which is also natural, you'd better be realistic about the uptime you are going to have.
My recommendation is even if you plan to go for a host with relatively high uptime like Webhostgiant.com don't forget to use monotoring services as well, Siteuptime.com, Host-track.com.

I think that the best way to check them - check their ordinary customer. Not main web site which m,ight be hosted on the premium server ;)

Well, I'm talking about applying the third-party monitoring services to YOUR site hosted with this host, I don't think this will be their premium server.

That is exactly what I wanted to say, because as rule main web site of the company is being monitored and as rule that result of uptime are being guaranteed. IMO ;)

As I see WebHostGiant.com offers Webalizer & AW Stats Web Statistics in their package plans. Isn't it enough for monitoring your web site?

I think so. WebHostGiant.com provides enough features you can monitor your web site. You may use the 3-rd party too for that. Use Serviceuptime.com for that.

Customers must take care of their business if you want it to be successful. I understand why server and network uptime is different and WebHostGiant.com states sincerely about that. Network uptime is more stable than server uptime as something goes wrong from time to time with any companies' servers.

RAID, Daily Server Backups that's what WebHostGiant.com offers for their clients but I can't get the difference between these things.
Can anybody explain it to me?

Webalizer and AW Stats Web Statistics are offered by Webhostgiant.com and other companies to analize visitors to your site and not your time uptime.
