I generally use Joomla and WordPress. equally are simple to apply, edit or manage web pages. Wordpress is properly speaking a CMS - Content Mangement System - a bit like other CMS systems like Sharepoint and Joomla. A HTML editor on the other hand is used to create pages from scratch or from pre-written templates. Some allow you to write other code, like PHP, JavasScript etc.

A software application used to upload, edit, and manage content displayed on a website. A content management system can perform a variety of different tasks for a website including regulating when content is displayed, how many times the content is shown to a specific user, and managing how the content connects or interacts with other elements of the website. This software also enables less technical individuals to manage content on a website easily without having an extensive coding background.

A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage.

A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that supports the creation and modification of digital content using a simple interface to abstract away low-level details unless required, usually supporting multiple users working in a collaborative environment.
CMS features vary widely. Most CMSs include Web-based publishing, format management, history editing and version control, indexing, search, and retrieval. By their nature, content management systems support the separation of content and presentation.
A web content management system (WCM or WCMS) is a CMS designed to support the management of the content of Web pages. Most popular CMSs are also WCMSs. Web content includes text and embedded graphics, photos, video, audio, maps, and code (e.g., for applications) that displays content or interacts with the user.
Such a content management system (CMS) typically has two major components:
A content management application (CMA) is the front-end user interface that allows a user, even with limited expertise, to add, modify and remove content from a Web site without the intervention of a webmaster.
A content delivery application (CDA) compiles that information and updates the Web site.
Digital asset management systems are another type of CMS. They manage things such as documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers and scientific data. CMSs can also be used for storing, controlling, revising, and publishing documentation.
One of the most popular content management system options is WordPress, used by over 25% of websites on the internet.

CMS is a computer application used for creating digital content which can be supported by multiple users.
Mostly it is used for web based content publishing, blog creation etc. Users who are having less technical knowledge about HTML and CSS prefer CMS for creating their own blog and website. Because CMS contains various plugins for different tasks, which makes it very easy to create the web document.

A content management system (CMS) is a software application or set of related programs that are used to create and manage digital content. CMSes are typically used for enterprise content management (ECM) and web content management (WCM). An ECM facilitates collaboration in the workplace by integrating document management, digital asset management and records retention functionalities, and providing end users with role-based access to the organization's digital assets. A WCM facilitates collaborative authoring for websites. ECM software often includes a WCM publishing functionality, but ECM webpages typically remain behind the organization's firewall
Features of CMSes
Features can vary amongst the various CMS offerings, but the core functions are often considered to be indexing, search and retrieval, format management, revision control and publishing.
1. Intuitive indexing, search and retrieval features index all data for easy access through search functions and allow users to search by attributes such as publication dates, keywords or author.
2. Format management facilitates turn scanned paper documents and legacy electronic documents into HTML or PDF documents.
